Get up. Feed cats. Brush teeth. Decide I can get away without showering or shaving. Forget to brush hair. Dress in one of 5 identical outfits for work. Read free paper on subway. I space out staring at the computer and/or TV for several hours, then I go to bed, play with kittens for ten minutes, read for ten minutes. Turn out the lights. Stare at ceiling. Get up. Putter on computer a bit more. Go back to bed. Wake up.

(edit: see comments for a discussion of my appalling diet)

Almost all of the 100+ games in the Unnamed Condo were purchased by dabunny -- even the ones that belong to me.

It takes several plays for me to like a game, usually. I prefer games that last under half an hour, and I have a weakness for Push-Your-Luck mechanics. A lot of the games I like are "party games", but there are very few games I just won't play.

My BoardGameGeek top ten is probably a little out of date, but here it is:

#1: Alhambra
#2: Lost Cities
#3: Ra
#4: Ca$h 'n Gun$
#5: Crokinole
#6: Carcassonne
#7: Iron Dragon
#8: Poison
#9: Dungeon
#10: Seafarers of Catan, The

oh, that's totally out of date. It doesn't include my top-rated game: Loopin' Louie

I suppose I owe him a cookie, due to my challenge last year for anyone to give me trans news I hadn't already spotted in my Google Alerts, but there had been 3.5 episodes of the LOGO network's transsexual-themed dating show when I heard about it. Transamerican Love Story, a reality dating show starring Calpernia Addams. I say 3.5, because episode four was in progress when I heard about it. I was terrified that it would be another version of There's Something About Miriam, but I was pleased to be wrong. After watching episode one on the LOGO website, I was embarrassingly hooked.

Things I love about it: the show (so far) appears to be completely open and honest with both the contestants and the star. If there's a "twist", I will be extremely disappointed. Disappointed to the point of disgust. I was afraid that honesty would deprive the show of the schadenfreude that makes reality programming bearable. I had nothing to be afraid of.

Cuteness and cringing abound. mycrust, you may feel free to continue to be appalled at my taste. My only real issue with the show is that it is OMGWTFBBQ-so-heterosexual!! And of course it is: it's about a woman looking for the perfect man. *sigh* But the fact that queerness isn't completely invisible makes it a lot more palatable than a typical dating show. Considering that my only other exposure to LOGO was Rick and Steve (which I didn't relate to at all and kind of detested), this was a welcome indulgence of brain candy.

edit: Oh my god, Shawn's blog.

My coworkers were just chattering about this one, and I suspect that I saw people talking about it last week: New York politicians and newspapers are calling for the resignation of Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer due to his admission of patronizing prostitutes.

As far as I can tell, his mistake was thinking that more expensive necessarily meant more private. The investigation seems to have been initiated because the wire transfers were so big the IRS thought he was hiding bribes. In all seriousness, I'm baffled that people care. I'm not surprised by the news coverage: there's 24 hours in day, and too many news channels. They have to fill it with something. I'm surprised by the fact that my coworkers are talking about it. I'm very turned off by the phrase "involved in a prostitution ring" in many of the stories. It implies that he was profiting from it, not paying for it.

So, I ask you, my seriously-biased sample: what did Governor Spitzer "do wrong", and do you think he should have to resign over it?
